Well, we're officially giddy. We just added a beast of a laser to the arsenal at Jumbie Industries. It's a 400 watt, Kern HSE, with a 50" x 100" laser bed. What does that mean? Well, for one, we can cut just about anything. Secondly, this laser greatly increases our production capacity and the size of what we can laser engrave. As I'm writing this post, we're engraving a 6' x 4' maple sign for Parks and People, an amazingly amazing non-profit located in Baltimore.
In addition to cutting up to 1.5" of wood, the new laser cuts up to 1/8" steel, aluminum, brass, and stainless steel. It also cuts acrylic up to an 1" thick with a flame polished edge. It pretty much cuts all the things like they are made out of butter.
It's great for large signs, architectural pieces, awards and trophies, glass etching, tap handles, custom car parts, control panels, cutting boards, pop displays, foam inserts, monuments, LED lighting, typographic art, scale models, acrylic letters, large art pieces, and cutting pizza.
We're the only company in the DC area with a CO2 laser this large, so if you'd like to give it a try, let us know!
